My baby takes the morning train...

...and as of next Wednesday, so will I.

Yes, you read that right.  Last night I found out that I got a full-time job.  It is a non-legal job, but it pays well enough.  I don't know if the law degree had any impact on the hiring process, but I think the writing skills I learned will be somewhat useful for the position.   I can't swear to that, obviously, but they might.

I will admit it:  I am really excited about this job.  It has been a difficult few months and my self esteem took a bit of a hit.  Will I be giving up the fight?  Not a chance.  This good news has energized me and I am more committed than ever to fighting the law school/higher education scam.

Thanks for all of the emails and comments of support I received during the process.  I have some great readers.

  5. Congrats! I knew this was going to happen for you, and you really weren't unemployed after graduation for very long, especially not in today's economy. Will you continue with your blog as part of your fight?

  6. 12:07 here. I'd like to add that one of the smart things you did with this blog as far as getting a job was concerned was to hide your identity and to always keep your tone respectful. It's not fair, but you have to be pretty careful today. I'm not in law, but liked what you had to say, and the dignified way you handled the nasty people who occasionally landed here. When they tried to bait you, you wouldn't play their game. This is a skill that will do well for you no matter what you do through your life. Best of luck!

  7. I knew it would be coming up soon! Congrats! And I understand the bit about your self-esteem taking a hit. I had the exact same experience as you did: was unemployed and searched about 3 1/2 months after graduation and got a job at the start of September as well.

It was a tough 3 1/2 months and I still don't think I recovered a year and a half later - it leaves its mark forever - a mark that those who haven't had the pleasant experience of looking for a job in this recession can't understand. I can't even imagine what it does to people who are unemployed for much longer. It must crush them.

Are you going to give us any more details about the new job and what type of work you will be doing? We'd love to hear...

  8. Rose,

    Congratulations!

Remember that time on the Titanic when we humped in the back seat of the roadster before the iceberg hit?

Don't go down with the ship!

    Good luck! Jack Dawson

  9. Congratulations, Rose! This is great news. Plus, I know that you wanted a decent-paying, non-legal job.

Beyond that, I am relieved, grateful and proud that you are going to continue the fight. It is important to spread the word. The fact is that tens of thousands of students are put through the meat grinder each year - in U.S. law schools alone. You recognize that just because you landed a nice job, does not mean that the overall sitation is okay. You want to help others avoid the trap and financial hell of law school. Thank you. I am glad to have your perspective and analysis, in this corner.

  10. Best of luck. I hope you did get the position because of your JD. Maybe the stigma is finally evaporating.

  11. Congratulations Rose! You're Hot! You're sexy!

I do think that it's interesting though that young people (who have seen so much bullshit and adversity) still seem to think that if they can just get a job and, thereby, plug into a deeply flawed economic and social system that somehow they'll be able to lead a normal life and have a future. Unfortunately, they are only deluding themselves. Lambs to the slaughter. Young people should make use of their time to acquire valuable skills like farming, carpentry, masonry, metal working, gunsmithing, etc.

  12. @September 14, 2011 12:07/12:44 AM -- You'd better believe I am going to be continuing with my blog. Just because I had a stroke of good luck does not mean that the system has gotten any better. I'm not going anywhere.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind words of encouragement!

  13. @September 14, 2011 2:21 AM -- I am trying to come up with a way to give a bit more information about where I will be working without getting *too* specific. There is basically no one in my "real" life who knows that I keep this blog. My husband and two or three non-law friends. After the NY Times article came out, a few people from my law school class actually sent out group emails with my blog link which I received! That was sort of funny, but it is for that exact reason that I try to keep all of the personal info I provide vague enough so that it can't be traced. But that's the long answer. The short answer is: yes, I will be providing more information, but I have to figure out how to make that information honest, useful, and untraceable. :)

  25. MIKE LARRY LOANS That Save My Family From Financial Bondage {mikelarryloanfirmworldwide@yahoo.com}

Hello Everyone, I am Collins Guzman from Texas USA, I will like to share this great testimony on how i got a loan from Mike Larry Loans, when we were driven out of our home when i couldn't pay my bills anymore, After been scammed by various companies online and denied a loan from my bank and some other credit union i visited. my children were taken by the foster care, i was all alone in the street. Until a day i shamefully walked into an old school mate who introduced me to Daisy Maureen. At first i told her that i am not ready to take any risk of requesting a loan online anymore, but she assured me that i will received my loan from them. On a second thought, due to my homelessness i had to take a trial and applied for the loan, luckily for me i received a loan of $80,000.00 from Mike Larry Loans. Am happy i took the risk and applied for the loan. my kids have been given back to me and now i own a home and a business of my own. All thanks and gratitude goes to MIKE LARRY LOAN COMPANY for giving a meaning to life when i had lost all hope. If you currently seeking for a loan assistance, you can contact them via: {mikelarryloanfirmworldwide@yahoo.com} WhatsApp or Call +1 (318) (515) (7109)
